It’s been a rather wild week since I last worked on Quoll, partially due to my choir’s concert, but in particular due to the big wind storm that hit the Seattle area. But things are beginning to return to normal here, and I have already wrapped up the work I was talking about last time, and am ready to tackle a few remaining things about Taffany and taffification while I watch some playoff soccer…

So with taffification, I mainly want to have Ada notice when it’s happening if she hasn’t already been told it is, just so she can let the Playerr know. That should require a new subject and some rules around setting that, but should hopefully be pretty independent with little effect on other stuff. But I’ll deal with that a bit later because I have a bigger and more fundamental change that could break everything.

While my lesbian bias drove me to make Taffany female by default, I actually want their gender to be chosen at random when the level starts. It doesn’t need to be like that, but I think it will be a fun variation between Playerr’s playthroughs. My big worry is that essentially I have been testing everything with Taffany being female, but once I add this feature there’s a 50% chance that she could instead be male, causing a bunch of my tests to change. It might even vary based on the test skein branch!

Oh well, that’s just another little rathole on the bit for this level mechanic which has been like a fractal of ratholes…
