About Me and This Website

Hi!

My name is Jaycie “chimerror” Mitchell (she/her) and I am a Black trans woman jill-of-all-trades game developer who lives in Seattle, with a main focus on programming and writing. In this Internet Bronze Age Collapse we are all in, I am returning to the old ways and setting up a personal website that I can use to push up things I work on as well as posts about creating it.

I had a very good pattern of writing dev diaries on a website called Cohost and I want to maintain doing that as well as have a place I can point people to to see all of my work, so that’s why I created this website.

It is meant to be very lightweight, built using a static site generator called Statiq. This is partially because I just want to get something up quickly, but also because I don’t have the bandwidth to do a lot of moderating and administration to handle features like a comments box. I also have been around the Internet for far too long and I think websites have gotten much too bloated, especially considering how much more of the web is accessed through mobile devices.

There is JavaScript on this page to handle basic functionality like hiding the header and toggling between light and dark mode. I pull in jQuery 3.7.1 for some additional features because it makes for some extremely concise code. Despite that, the majority of the content of the site should be at least accessible without JavaScript turned on.

The body font is Merriweather by Sorkin Type, and the title font is PT Sans Narrow by ParaType.

The main logo was created by combining a few icons from The Noun Project used under the CC-BY 3.0 License:

Additionally, other icons from there were used for buttons:

Besides here, I can be found on the Fediverse at beach.city and other places, always under the name “chimerror”. If that doesn’t work as a way of contact, feel free to send me an email, though I reserve the right to not respond, especially if you’re mean to me. :p

Anyway, I hope you find something here that you like or at least makes you think. Thanks for reading! :3
